Biography

Dr. Sarah L. Chen is Director of Research at Benchline Reports, responsible for the publication's evidence methodology, category benchmark design, and research quality standards. She holds a PhD in Information Systems from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MS in Computer Science from Stanford University.

Prior to joining Benchline, Dr. Chen spent six years as a Research Scientist at MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), where she published peer-reviewed work on technology adoption frameworks, enterprise software evaluation, and AI system assessment methodologies. Her research has appeared in MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, and the Journal of the Association for Information Systems.

She also completed a two-year engagement with McKinsey & Company's Technology Practice, advising Fortune 100 clients on technology platform selection and vendor capability evaluation — experience that directly informs Benchline's research approach to defensible, criteria-first category analysis.
